Centrum purchases 10% of Prime Focus from Reliance Capital

Centrum has acquired almost 10 per cent stake in Prime Focus, making the market purchase from Reliance Capital.

Centrum has bought 1.2 million shares at around 250 per share, amounting to Rs 300 million.

"Centrum has taken slightly less then 10 per cent of Prime Focus equity from Reliance Capital. But the deal is between the two companies and Prime Focus is nowhere involved," confirms Prime Focus founder and MD Namit Malhotra.

Reliance Capital held 1.8 million equity shares, or 14.04 per cent, of Prime Focus, according to data provided by the BSE till 31 December 2009. The promoters hold 53.84 per cent in the company.

Shares of Prime Focus surged 12.82 per cent at the BSE to close Tuesday at Rs 285.20.

Prime Focus provides creative and technical services to the film, broadcast, commercials, gaming, internet and media industries.
