Based in Hollywood and reporting to Prime Focus’ global CEO Namit Malhotra, Rosen will oversee technical operations for all Prime Focus’ North American locations, and together with his counterparts in the UK and India, will further integrate the company’s studios around the world.

Recognised as an industry expert in digital imaging, Rosen has led engineering efforts at Warner Bros., DreamWorks SKG, Dalsa Digital Cinema, Cinesite and other top organisations throughout his career which spans more than 30 years. He joins Prime Focus most recently from Dalsa, where he was head of production technologies, overseeing software and hardware engineering for the Origin and Evolution 4K cinema cameras. Prior to Dalsa he was a vice president of technology for Warner Bros. Technical Operations, overseeing digital systems for feature film production, post, and restoration.

As chief technology officer at UK-based Cinesite, Rosen re-architected a complete hardware infrastructure for the company’s London and Hollywood locations and developed a software plan to integrate 3D, 3D scanning, recording and restoration services. Prior to that, as chief engineer at DreamWorks SKG, Rosen created and managed the systems engineering and software departments. He began his career in the aerospace industry, spending 18 years at TRW Defense and Space Systems where he built on his expertise in imagery and was appointed to several US DoD and other governmental committees to establish imagery standards and formats.

Rosen is a member of SMPTE, ACM, IEEE and AMIA, an associate member of the ASC and holds a patent for algorithms that correct camera artifacts in digital photography.

“Daniel’s expertise in imaging, experience integrating global technical processes and leadership abilities are simply unparalleled in our industry,” said Prime Focus’ Malhotra. “The combination of talent and skills he brings are going to be a key part of our execution and we’re thrilled to have him on our team.”

“Prime Focus has developed an ambitious vision for what a global entertainment services company can be. I’m looking forward to contributing to Prime Focus’ efforts,” said Rosen.
